Solar Eclipse Week

This was an amazing week because we all got to witness history......together! The Solar Eclipse on Monday was incredible but I was equally blown away by the parent support and involvement! Aside from the Solar Eclipse, this week also consisted of Open House. I hope you all loved the letters your children wrote you...it is so sweet to see how they adore you all.
The third full week of 3rd grade consisted of the bodies of water, subjects and predicates, reading comprehension, Psalm 1:6, living things vs. non-living things, stars, using place value to subtract and much more. This week was jam-packed with learning and the behavior in the classroom was wonderful. I am already looking forward to what next week has to offer!

2nd Week of School

Yay for week 2!
This week our class *finally* got to go to the beautiful new STEM lab....they've been asking me just about every day when they would get to go. If you haven't seen the new STEM lab then I recommend you go see it-it is amazing! This week we focused on different types of sentences, the moon and the planets, landforms, maps, expository texts, and the story of Isaiah. Today, the students got into groups and played a globe game where they competed to see who could locate a different state or country first. As you can see from the pictures below, they loved it!
Thursday of this week, the senior football players joined everyone in Chapel to encourage students to come to the EH football game this Friday- I hope you all can come!
Our Solar Eclipse Day is Monday and we invite all parents to come watch it with our class. I will hand out the student glasses Monday morning. We would love to have you all join us around 10:45 before we head to the football field for lunch and Solar Eclipse festivities.

First Full Week of School!

This was a super busy week! We learned a lot of new procedures while jumping right into learning! The first week of third grade consisted of learning about the following: The Solar Eclipse, the books of The New Testament, short and long vowels, visualization and fantasy, longitude and latitude, and much more. The students received a new list of both spelling words and vocabulary words and took a test and did great! We completed a few projects that you will see hanging on the walls outside of our room. The first project was a paper plate globe to help them learn where the continents and oceans are in relation to one another. The next was their Solar Eclipse project where they learned how the moon is in front of the sun which causes a white ring of light. Be sure to look for both of these projects at the upcoming open house which is on Tuesday August 22nd!
I can't believe this was only the first week of school and I already love these kiddos SO much! I pray that the weeks only continue to improve from this point forward and each student leaves the classroom feeling loved!
