1st Field Trip!

Hello families!

This week was extraordinary! We successfully went on our first field trip to the Nashville Children's Theatre and they all loved seeing "The Hundred Dresses". It was about lifting people up and not tearing them down because you don't realize how much your words can affect them. Our whole class was extremely well behaved.....my favorite part had to be them choosing to sing Chapel songs the whole bus ride there and back :)
The rest of the week was filled with activities that allowed them to be creative and independent. The two main assignments we worked on this week were a research project and a personal or friendly letter. They got into groups for their research project and could choose any location around the world but they had to learn all about it and then present it today! The next project was a letter they wrote at the beginning of the week and we worked on improving our writing skills until we ended with our final draft. They all read those aloud today and it was so uplifting to see how encouraging they were to one another! You can see pictures from both projects below!

Next week is the last week of the 9 weeks.....How is that possible? Time flies when you're having fun! So, to wrap up next week, we will have additional tests in math and science towards the end of the week- they will both be over chapter 2. Just a reminder that assignments and homework are on RenWeb if you want to keep up with what we are doing each day. I hope you all enjoy your weekend and I am already looking forward to seeing all of my kiddos on Monday!

Homecoming Week!

What a fabulous week! I felt a lot of love this week and I appreciate everything my students and parents did for me- Below is a picture of the sweet birthday lunch my kiddos surprised me with!

This week we completed a 4 day lesson on the states and each student got to wrap up by helping make a 50 states banner that we will hang in the hallway. We finished our lesson on plant and animal life cycles and will have a test on Monday. This week we began chapter two in math which covers organizing data and using graphs. During these lessons, they all told me how fun they think this math is which I was thrilled to hear!

Next week we will learn about food chains and ecosystems, the boy Jesus in the Temple, regions of the United States, physical features on maps, and more. Also, our first FIELD TRIP is on Thursday. We will be going to the Nashville Children's Theatre to see The Hundred Dresses. It will be a semi short trip on Thursday but it will still affect our lunch schedule SO each student will need to bring their lunch that day.
It was a wonderful homecoming week and I hope to see you all at the game tonight! Have a great weekend!!

Short Week

Happy short week!

We only had two instructional days this week but we packed in as much as possible! Your students did wonderful on their tests and assignments. We completed all of our Grandparent's Day projects and we hope that either a parent or a grandparent will get to come share this special day with your sweet third grader!

This week we learned about primary vs. secondary sources as well as learning a new list of spelling words and a new memory verse (Colossians 3:20). Since we wrapped up unit 1 in math, we will be moving on to unit 2 which is Representing and Interpreting Data. We will dive deeper into life cycles, interpreting primary sources, using graphs, and improving our cursive. Also, please remind your child to continue reading their AR book so they can take the required one test a week.

And just a reminder to check your email for the chance to sign up for parent/teacher conferences as well as a time to come read to our glass. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello September!

Hello!
Another great week is coming to an end...
Our recent fundraiser was a success which is why I am happy to announce that we are out of school on Monday AND Tuesday!! Way to go!

This week we covered maps and coordinates, living things vs nonliving things, writing their names in cursive, biographies, Psalm 150:6,and the story of the birth of Jesus. Earlier in the week, we even spent part of our class outside.....we couldn't resist the beautiful whether! I was very impressed with all my students this week as they all seemed to gain a little more confidence in their learning. We conquered several tests this week and I was blown away with how well they did.

Next week, we are putting our social studies book aside for a little bit and diving into some new topics that they can explore more in depth. We are continuing on to chapter 2 in science while also wrapping up unit 1 in math. They will have a math test on Thursday since we have been reviewing all this week. It is also Grandparent's Day on Friday so we would love to have you all join us at school for that fun and special day! Our students will have some sweet surprises for their loved ones.
I hope you all have a fantastic FOUR day weekend......and try to stay dry! I will continue to pray for your sweet kids!
